Healthy Lifestyles Australia is a Registered NDIS Provider. Our clinicians can provide offsite, in clinic and in house services depending upon your needs. Services include:

We have a dedicated NDIS team who pride themselves in linking you with the right services. You can access our friendly professionals at one of our clinics face to face or we can visit you at home (As per NDIS guidelines travel charges apply). Our NDIS services fall into the following Support Categories:

  • ‘Assistance with Daily Life’ – Support Category 1 

  • ‘Improved Health and Wellbeing’ – Support Category 12,  

  • ‘Improved Daily Living (Therapy services)’ – Support Category 15

DIETITIAN

  • One on one individualised shopping education and/or healthy meal preparation, or participation in an organised group shopping tour

  • Taking the participant and their support staff through their local supermarket. Focusing on -

    • What are the healthier foods and where to find them in the supermarket  

    • What are the healthiest food choices for the client’s needs. Which foods these are? What they look like? How they could be prepared? 

    • Reading labels – education for healthier choices

  • A nutrition review and appropriate meal plan development  

  • One on one skills building. For example -  

    • Reading and following a developed meal plan  

    • Preparing healthy meals, with the client, in their home/environment, or in an organised group cooking class (if appropriate). 

  • Fussy eating and associated food-based therapy

  • Individual consultations and diet plan development

  • PEG feeding regime review and Enteral Nutrition Review

  • Specialised dietary planning to assist behaviour changes for NDIS participants with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • Nutrition consultation and meal planning for allergies and intolerances

  • Food play Dietitian based sessions to encourage food acceptance

 

EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY

  • Take NIDS participants through one on one individualised programs to ensure correct technique is used to minimize injury

  • Review NDIS participants current exercise routines or programs and help modify to get maximum results 

  • Help rehabilitate from injuries or surgery 

  • Assess the participants abilities and work with them to achieve their physical goals 

  • Help participants overcome pain and movement limitations that are impacting everyday life 

  • Provide the most useful exercises and movement programs for different disabilities that help improve quality of life outcomes  

  • Making exercise fun and enjoyable  

  • Creating new ideas and innovative ways to be active in everyday life 

  • Providing support for caring staff, family and coordinator staff to help the NDIS participant become more active 

  • Designing exercise and movement programs that are safe for participation   

  • One on one activity/personal training session eg. learning how to exercise/move best for self; walking in a park; a gym session; or a hydrotherapy session at the pool

  • Understand diabetes and make informed lifestyle and treatment choices to increase the participants skills, motivation and confidence with relevance and specificity to their impairment/s

  • Incorporate physical activity into daily life and an understanding of why physical activity is so important

  • Use their medicines effectively and safely and tips to help you navigate this with your impairment

  • Monitor and interpret their blood glucose patterns so participants can understand the links between blood glucose, food, exercise and insulin

  • Education and training for support workers and staff to enable them to support participants individual needs

Our Therapy Assistants work alongside our Dietitians, Exercise Physiologists and Diabetes Educators to implement programs designed by our professionals and provide more frequent visits to support participants in achieving their goals. How do we do this?

  • Run through exercise programs designed by our Exercise Physiologist’s and help you keep accountable to achieving your goals through regular support

  • Assist with implementing recommendations and / or shopping / cooking experiences designed by our Dietitian’s

  • Assist the Diabetes Educator in implementing recommendations and training support workers and staff

  • Report writing and up to date communication with the allied health professional so any adjustments that are needed can be made and implemented
